Next West Midlands franchise
The ITT for the next West Midlands franchise has been released: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/bette...t-midlands The biggest changes for the North of the franchise area appear to be the Crewe to Euston service re-routed away from Stoke with a replacement Crewe to Birmingham service running in lieu. Also Hartford will get 2tph from December 2018. |

RE: Next West Midlands franchise
An interesting requirement is to that proposals must accommodate a cl.390 timed service non-stop from Birmingham to Bushbury, as well as the existing train via Sandwell. |

But during the morning and evening peak times it has 2tph. On Saturdays, it has 2tph. On Sundays, it has 1tph Liverpool-Birmingham On Monday to Saturday, it has 2tph. On Sundays, it has 1tph. I have more questions. 1) What will happen to the Euston-Crewe service from 2018? 2) Will the Birmingham-Liverpool service still be half an hour? |

RE: Next West Midlands franchise
Euston-Crewe will run via Madeley and Birmingham-Liverpool stays two an hour. It seems likely the new stopping service via Stoke will be combined with, or replace, one of the existing Walsall-Birmingham-Wolverhampton trains as the ITT requires a maximum of six trains an hour between Birmingham between Birmingham and Wolves and the second Birmingham-Shrewsbury train will presumably take up the sixth path. ; |

RE: Next West Midlands franchise
The new Birmingham-Crewe via Stone service will be an extension of an existing Birmingham-Wolverhampton service and won't replace any Birmingham-Liverpool services. |

Thanks. There is one Birmingham-Crewe via Stone service on Monday to Friday which leaves Birmingham at 1901, it then calls at Stone at 1954 and arrives at Crewe at 2032. On Saturdays, it leaves Birmingham at 2036, calls at Stone at 2119 and arrives at Crewe at 2149. On Monday to Friday, there is one Crewe-Birmingham via Stone which leaves Crewe at 0635, calls at Stone at 0704 and arrives at Birmingham at 0805. There are no services on Saturdays. |

RE: Next West Midlands franchise
They are to cover the existing eight-car workings unable to stop at Stone and Kidsgrove, alledgedly due to a fatuous argument that it is dangerous for the rear set to overhang a junction and block an abolished foot crossing at Stone. |
