Swindon Bus War Takes Flight!
Well, here we are. The Swindon bus war. A smaller scale bus war started taking place with the 5 and 3, operated by Thamesdown and Stagecoach but the bigger one is the Thamesdown R1, running at a competitive frequency every 15 minutes compared to every 20 minutes from the Stagecoach 55.
Today it has been confirmed that the Stagecoach 55 is now to be running every 10 minutes from this Sunday, with an improved Sunday service operating twice as many buses as Thamesdown!
It will be very interesting to see how this plays out, I would say this improvement has been put out just in time, note it is only going to be 2 weeks after Thamesdown so most pass holders will still be using the 55. Will Thamesdown increase the R1? Who knows!
Also note that for the 55 service to Chippenham (the longer workings) new buses are due later this year...
