Dublin & Ireland
RE: Dublin & Ireland
Hi all.
We are back in lockdown in Ireland and as a result we are limited to 5 km distance for exercise and public transport is for essential use only. I nearly took a spin on the bus to go to work this week, but I ended up needing the car. Bus services in Dublin are back to Saturday timetables with peak hour extras. No new buses have entered service so far this year, however the new PA/ PAL class E40ERs hybrids, three hydrogen Wright double deckers, new VDL double decker commuter coaches and new Expressway/ intercity coaches have been delivered, so big changes are afoot. Their entry into service may be delayed by you know what...

Here is a bus.

RE: Dublin & Ireland
I mentioned recently that new hybrid buses were delivered and buses7675 reported seeming one and commented on how bright it was. The National Transport Authority (NTA) have determined that all Public Serious Obligation (PSO) routes are to be operated by buses in this new green and yellow livery. Obviously this will take time. This week a number of the Dublin Bus SG class/ B5TLs appeared in this new livery. I managed to get a photo of SG333 operated out of Summerhill Garage.

RE: Dublin & Ireland
I was in work today and stayed in the city for a few hours this evening. Bus services are still operating to a Saturday timetable, which although is probably sufficient, is not as busy as a weekend timetable. Very few express or extras out. Anyway it was a fabulous evening (not raining!) so I am not complaining. Just a few.

AX519 Pearse St 16 March 2021 - Based out of Ringsend depot. Ringsend still allow their AXs, B7TLs out, I think the other garages do not allow them out at present in public service. These are one door buses. The AV/ AXs started a trend of one door buses, but since the GT class on, all double deckers are dual door.

182D23470 St Stephens Green 16 March 2021 - Routes 193/ 194 are operated by Ashbourne Connect based in County Meath. They operate a varied collection of vehicles but all appear to be well maintained. May interest some here, but the company name is SELNEC Ltd!

SG315 St Stephens Green 16 March 2021 - The new livery features an attractive feature - yellow lined doors.

Nice photos redstar, interesting to compare the Dublin spec Enviro400 front with the standard one with the flatter front next to it.

RE: Dublin & Ireland
Thanks for the comments. Dublin Bus / Unions have a thing about the windscreen on buses and hence why they go for the modified version and why they stuck with the older Gemini front design. Go Ahead Ireland, took on a number of ex Dublin Bus vehicles and have stuck with the modified bus front. They received their last Geminis in November last year.
The first of the new Enviro400 ERs have appeared on training duties over the last week or so.

Even those Enviro400ERs appear to have a much deeped screen than a normal spec Enviro400City

Lots of opening windows is no bad thing either!

Rumour has it that they may enter service on Monday on the 140 route.
I was in Wexford during the week and you can still find Mini Pointers in service. I noticed a number of newer ex Metroline Enviro200s in service.

That particular Dart is former HTL Buses (whose livery it still wears) SN06 BLZ, I believe similar SN06 BLX is also there.

Oh Superman where are you now, when everything's gone wrong somehow, the men of steel, the men of power, are losing control by the hour.
